Wave length of light ?

The wavelength of light refers to the distance between successive peaks or troughs of a light wave. Light spans a range of wavelengths, which determine its color and type within the electromagnetic spectrum.

Wavelengths of Visible Light:

The range of visible light is approximately:

  • Violet: 380–450 nanometers (nm)
  • Blue: 450–495 nm
  • Green: 495–570 nm
  • Yellow: 570–590 nm
  • Orange: 590–620 nm
  • Red: 620–750 nm

Beyond Visible Light:

Light also includes wavelengths outside the visible range:

  • Ultraviolet (UV): 10–400 nm
  • Infrared (IR): 750 nm to 1 mm
  • Microwave: 1 mm to 1 m
  • Radio Waves: >1 m

Shorter wavelengths (like ultraviolet and X-rays) carry more energy, while longer wavelengths (like infrared and radio waves) carry less.

Wavelength is critical in applications such as optics, astronomy, and communication technologies.
